ashley judd
Daughter of Country Music superstar Naomi Judd and sister
of Country singer Wynonna Judd, it was just a matter of
time before Ashley became famous in her own right - it's
in her blood. Growing up poor she amused herself with
books and acting out the characters, and once her mother
and sister became Country music sensations they were able
to leave the poverty behind them. Ashley attended the
University of Kentucky and graduated with a degree in
French.
On her sister's encouragement, Ashley moved
into acting, getting her first role on "Star Trek:
The Next Generation," and followed up with even more
television. She made her feature film debut in 1992 in
"Kuffs" alongside Christian Slater, but her
first major role would come in 1993 with the hit indie
drama "Ruby in Paradise." The role would win
her an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress.
In 1996 she had a big role alongside Matthew
McConaughey in "A Time to Kill," and followed
it up with an even bigger one in "Kiss the Girls"
in 1997. Her star power was cemented in 1999 when she
appeared in "Double Jeopardy" with Tommy Lee
Jones and Bruce Beresford, and that star has yet to stop
shining brightly.
She appears in "De-Lovely" with
Kevin Kline, another
Golden Globe nominee.
