The Aviator

"The Aviator," concerning itself with the
earlier years of Howard Hughes' life and not those when
he wore Kleenex boxes on his feet and kept his urine
in jars, finds Leonardo
DiCaprio portraying the troubled genius from 1930
until 1947, from Hollywood to Las Vegas casinos, from
oil fields to battlefields. When his father's will left
him three-quarters of his company, young Howard moves
to Hollywood to take on moviemaking, eventually running
RKO Pictures and spawning the careers of starlets like
Jean Harlowe, Katherine Hepburn and Ava Gardner (played,
respectively, by Gwen Stefani, Cate
Blanchett and Kate Beckinsale). But, never content
to feel as though he was standing still, Hughes extends
his grasp into everything he can find, including aviation
when he buys TWA Airlines. When the war began he shifted
his interests towards defense, and created the now-infamous
Spruce Goose, a flying arsenal. Focusing on the relationships
with with friends and enemies alike, Martin
Scorsese's "The Aviator" will take you
on a high-flying ride.
