Bill Murray started his career off as a cabbie, this job allowed him to attend Loyola
Academy, where he got into sports and acting. While studying pre-med at Regis College
in Denver Murray was arrested for possession of marijuana and dropped out. This allowed
Bill Murray to join the National Lampoon Radio Hour, the group was full of future
Saturday Night Live cast members like Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner and John Belushi. Bill
Murray would not be in the original SNL, but would join later on.
During the 1980’s Bill Murray would star in some of the decades more
successful comedies including Caddyshack, Ghost Busters 1 and 2 and Scrooged. In
more recent years Bill Murray has got into more dramatic films like Rushmore, The
Royal Tenenbaums and his recent film of Lost in Translation.
His performance of Bob Harris won him this
year’s Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy or musical.
