Even though Bob Hoskins quit school at the age of 15 he
still had a love for acting and for the theater and dreamt of being an
actor. He got his first acting role by accident, he went to watch a friend
audition and was mistaken for someone else in the play and got the role.
Throughout much of the 70's Hoskins had a lot of supporting
roles in films. His career started to pick up with films like The Long Good
Friday, The Cotton Club, Mona Lisa. He also starred in the hit movie Who
Framed Roger Rabbit.
This year Hoskins is nominated for his
role as Vivian Van Damm in Mrs.
Henderson Presents, the film also stars fellow
nominee Judi Dench.
