Like a lot actresses Diane Keaton started acting on the stage and found a lot success. She was in the original cast of Hair. It was around this time that she met a young writer named Woody Allen who cast her in his play Play It Again, Sam, the two started a relationship and she would star in his films throughout her career.

After making her film debut in Allen’s film version of the play she was offered a role in the Godfather movie. This film became one of the most successful films in movie history and made Diane Keaton a star.

After acting in the second Godfather movie Keaton again decided to work with Woody Allen on a film he wrote about their relationship. Annie Hall (Keaton’s real last name is Hall and her nickname was Annie) it was a huge success and won all kinds of awards and turned Keaton into a sex symbol.

Throughout her career Keaton has starred in other successful films like Reds, Father of the Bride, Manhattan Murder Mystery.

This year Keaton won the Golden Globe for best actress in for her work on Something's Gotta Give.
