hilary swank

Hilary is one of those lucky people who got to live the
dream that everyone secretly wishes for: as a child, she
was "discovered" by a producer who immediately
began to groom her for stardom. She made her stage debut
as Mowgli in "The Jungle Book" at age nine,
and began to appear in community and school theatrical
productions from then on. In 1994 she got a taste of fame
- however fleeting - when she starred in "The Next
Karate Kid," but soon had to resign herself to bit
parts in small movies. A year-long stint on "Beverly
Hills 90210" helped get her noticed again, and she
landed a role in the original film version of "Buffy
the Vampire Slayer" alongside 90210 co-star Luke
Perry.
Hilary wouldn't achieve true stardom, however,
until 1999 when she starred in the indie flick phenomenon
"Boys Don't Cry." Her portrayal brought her
countless awards, including both a Golden Globe and
an Oscar for Best Actress. She would go on to make several
more movies, including Sam Raimi's "The Gift,"
and "Insomnia" with co-stars Al Pacino and
Robin Williams. She's nominated for her role in "Million
Dollar Baby" alongside fellow Golden Globe
nominees Morgan Freeman
and Clint
Eastwood.
