holly hunter
Ever since her fifth grade performance as Helen Keller, Holly Hunter
has had an interest in acting. She would eventually study acting at Carnegie Mellon University.
After school she met playwright Beth Henley after being stuck in a broken
elevator with her and ened up being in a few of her plays. These plays helped her get a part in a Coen
bothers’ movie Raising Arizona. The movie got her a lot of attention, but it would be her role
in Broadcast News that would make her a star.
In 1993 she won an Oscar for her work in The Piano, she actually preformed all of the
music her character played in the movie.
She has also been in The Firm, Crash, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Thirteen.
This year Hunter is nominated for best supporting actress for her work in the movie Thirteen with Evan Rachel Wood.
