imelda staunton

Despite other brief forays, Imelda Staunton is a period
actress. Among others, she has appeared as the Nurse
in the Oscar-winning "Shakespeare in Love"
alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes and Geoffrey
Rush. As well, she has appeared in "Much Ado About
Nothing," "Sense and Sensibility" (with
fellow Golden Globe nominee Kate
Winslet) and "Twelfth Night." Imelda has
made a career not of appearing in "movies,"
but "films" - she was won Olivier Awards for
her performances in "Into the Woods," "The
Corn Is Green" and "A Chorus of Disapproval,"
and was nominated for her work in "Uncle Vanya"
and "The Wizard of Oz." Her stage credits
are no less impressive, including "The Beggar's
Opera," "Guys and Dolls," "They
Shoot Horses, Don't They?," "Waiting for Godot,"
"Grease," "Elektra," and "As
You Like It."
