Best known for her role as Queen Amidala in the wildly
popular "Star Wars" prequels, Natalie was born
in Jerusalem in 1981 and soon after moved to Washington,
and then New York State, where she spent the rest of her
childhood. At 11 she was discovered by a modeling agency,
and less than a year later she was starring in Luc Besson's
critically acclaimed "Leon" in 1994. She quickly
found work after that, with parts in "Heat"
alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Val Kilmer, Woody
Allen's "Everyone Says I Love You," and "Beautiful
Girls" along another star-studded cast featuring
Uma Thurman, Rosie O'Donnell and Matt Dillon, among others.
After this, Natalie wisely decided to take some time off
from acting and finish up with high school, eventually
graduating a straight-A student, before returning to films.
And she returned in a big way, landing a
star-making role as Queen Amidala, Darth Vader's main
squeeze, in the Star Wars Trilogy Episodes I, II and
III. This opened the door to new roles for her, including
"Cold Mountain" with Nicole
Kidman and Renee
Zellweger, and "Closer"
with fellow Golden Globe nominees Clive
Owen and Mike
Nichols. She has since taken another break from
acting to concentrate on school, majoring in Psychology
at Harvard.
