Few would argue with the fact that Steven Spielberg is probably the most important person in the film industry and is not showing any sign of slowing down.

After dropping out of school he got a job as an assistant on the classic western Wagon Train. He directed other smaller short and full length films before he made his now-famous thriller Jaws. He followed that film up with another classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Spielberg has too many hits films to name, but some of the ones that stick out are the Indiana Jones trilogy, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Empire of the Sun, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan and a lot of others.

This year Spielberg has another Golden Globe nomination to add to his list for his work in Munich.
