Will Ferrell graduated University of Southern California with a degree in Sports Information. It was during this time that Ferrell took an interest in acting, with his announcements over the PA system at the school.

He joined a comedy troupe called the Groundlings which served as a springboard for comics Laraine Newman, Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman. This experience helped him get a role in Saturday Night Live playing characters like George W. Bush, Alex Trebek and Janet Reno.

Ferrell left Saturday Night Live to pursue a film career with movies Old School, Elf, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and The Producers.

Ferrell is nominated for his work with Nathan Lane in the musical the Producers.
